Abstract
IIOC is defined as the inability of the uterine cervix from inherent or acquired weakness to maintain an intrauterine pregnancy and characterized by painless dilatation of the cervix in the second trimester or early in the third trimester, with
prolapse
and ballooning of membranes into the vagina followed by rupture of membranes and expulsion of immature fetus, This sequences of events tend to repeat in each pregnancy. If effectively treated. This sequences of events are prevented in each
pregnancy.
This clinical study was based on 31 cases of IIOC on which McDonald operation was performed from january 1, 1985 to december 31, 1994,
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. This incidence of IIOC was 0.21%(1 case of 467. Pregnancies).
2. Th most cases were 25-29 years old and the mean age was 29.6 year old.
3. The most suspected contributing factor seemed to be induced abortion(83.9%).
4. The incidence of complication was 19.5%{inevitable abortion(2cases), PROM(2cases), premature labor(2 cases)}.
5. Over half(54.8%) women had delivered viable fetus before diagnosis and treatment of IIOC.
6. The total neonatal survival rate was 87.1%.
